I've tried a few variants and so far CREE has my vote...

Have to admit... no Sylvania yet.

Yep, same price here.. In my Cree RFI thread, so far have not found a "dirty" Cree bulb including this new "flowthru" design. All have worked out of the box, and are still working. So far so good.

Well, I've finished changing out all our light bulbs except the "appliance" bulbs (oven, microwave, refrigerators) and the two bulbs in the garage door opener. I tried LEDs in the garage door opener and they simply did not light. The most expensive ones were the four 3-way CREE bulbs at $21.97 each plus tax. And I had a hard time finding any chandelier base bulbs that were not too long to use in a 6 bulb fixture over the mirror in the master bath; finally bought Sylvania from Lowe's. So with 50 LED bulbs, I have some from Home Depot, some from Lowe's, some from Walmart, and some from Amazon.com.

Report back in a month or so and tell us how much the electric bill went down:)

Am very interested how all the different bulbs hold up...

I put CREE 60W in Mom's 3-way lamps... she always used the middle setting and is happy with them...

Still have a case of compact fluorescents kicking around and lots of regular incandescents... bought in bulk for the rentals because almost without fail... majority of light bulbs are missing from fixtures when tenants leave...

Hm... hadn't thought that.. If tenants will steal a $0.50 incandescent bulb, I wonder if they would think twice of stealing all of the $8 to $20 LED bulbs in a rental...I wonder:mischievous:

Thanks for the heads up. I like the idea of not having the spiral of glass. I should be boarding my home up with the number of broken ones that have happened around here.

In case lot the 60W incandescent cost about 22 cents each.

The equivalent 20 year LED bulbs started at $12 each and now down to $8.

So one LED cost the same to buy as 55 incandescents... just something to ponder...

There may come a time where tenants will supply their own bulbs and take them with them when they move... already seen it at a house that was recently sold... the buyers were ticked off when every bulb in the large home was replaced by the give away compact fluorescents just before escrow closed.

Every year I have several light bulb service calls... 99% of the time it is tenant error... they have a box of bulbs and none work or they can't find replacement bulbs for the ones the utility installed under a low income energy program... read that to be the special energy save bulbs are expensive...

I will routinely convert back to standard fixtures at turnover just to minimize problems later... T5, T12, T8, circle line, plug in, etc... each a landlord nightmare.
