I have a line on a a Dettson model 1085 SnowBlower 3 pt mount

I was thinking about buying it and possibly making it a bit narrower if needed for my L2500

Does anyone know anything about the company? Are they still in business or was bought out and changed names?

I know it might be a strech for my machine but it should be able to handle carrying it around and once you make a first pass you can take less the next time.

Where I live it is not all the time I 'need' a blower anyway. Most major snowfalls are about 4-6 inch or so. But my lanes do drift a good bit.

If it’s at all similar to my 7’ George White blower, it’ll likely be too big for your tractor. My Ford 3000 is honestly undersized for mine, but I make do. Anything smaller however wouldn’t work at all. On my steep driveway it’ll lift the front end of the tractor, and it’s all it can do to chew through a 2-3’ drift. In my opinion, changing the size wouldn’t even be an option. I’d rather spend my time looking for one that would fit.

Get it, try it, and if it doesn't work out for you....sell it. :) (or use that as a good excuse to get a bigger tractor :D )

I wouldn't bother with attempts to make it narrower, as its resale value will be much lower, I'd guess.

Bigger-smaller doesn't seem to me to be the issue, it's heavier-lighter ...and I bet by the time you made it "smaller" it would be heavier!

IMHO, you can make up for a little too big by attacking the snow a little slower ...but, you can't make up for too heavy no matter how slow you go.

Nonetheless, if you decide to shrink it, post pictures

It's too big. I have a 50hp tractor and a 74" blower and I would not want much bigger. You have roughly half the tractor and want to run a foot wider blower? I wish you well but think your going to make more problems than you solve.
