I have a pet peive with Kubota. In the last 5 that I've had, none have had a 7 way electrical connector on the back of the tractor.

I run rear lights and 4 way flashers on all my implements as required by Federal Law and I always have to add an SAE 7 way male plug to the back of the tractor, first thing. The newer models are getting pretty hard to get into the harness to install the wiring.

Kubota should consider this a standard feature. /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

Wow /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif Someone that uses the seven pin on their tractor. I thought that mayby it was for the Europan market. I have always used a 4 pin and wish that I had changed it over to the seven pin on my truck. Thinking that it would be something that would work better. I just thought that it was strange that my tractor had a seven pin connector on it. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

SAE J-60(sic) 7 pin connectors are the norm on ag tractors. 7 pin connectors are on all of our haying equipment for lights and auxilliary power. It is a real pain to have to splice into a new tractor's wiring harness and then mount the male recepticle on the back.

The 5030 Kubota is kinda of in between a M series and a L series with the accent on ag operation. A 7 pin should be included as it is federal law to have warning lights on towed implements along with reflective tape.

The 7-pin connector is the way to go on a truck. You can adapt it back to any other connector as needed; the adapters are only a few dollars.

The nice thing about them, is it gives you all possible combinations of wiring for lights, brakes, and power. The 4-wire flat only gives you basic lights. On my truck, and the one before it, I had tail light, brake/turn light, back-up light, 12v power line, and brakes.

I have a few common adapters, and one 7-wire plug with the wires going to bullet connectors, so I can adapt to anything as necessary.

Most new trucks are wired up for a 7-wire, like my Dodge 3/4 ton. Even if they do not have the connector, there is usually a pigtail at the back of the truck that the 7-wire setup plugs in to. They are usually available from the dealer. Also, the new trucks are usaully prewired for trailer brakes. Again, there is a pigtail connector that hooks up under the dash. Plug that in, and hook the four wires to your particular brake controller. It is nice not to have to run all kinds of wire and cut into the factory harness.

I had never heard of tractor with these plugs, since I am only familiar with CUT's and my old Farmall "A", which has only one wire, for the kill switch. It makes a lot of sense though, considering the various implements that may be used on a working ranch/farm.

The Landtrac 300 and 360 from Long Agribusiness have a trailer connector (7 pin, if memory serves) on the back of their tractors as standard equipment. The Kioti tractors have some sort different 4-pin pigtail connector on the back of theirs. My New Holland is like the Kubs - have to splice everything but the worklight.
