70a Loader on 1070???

I found someone with a 70a loader for sale. I realize I would need to fab the mounts to fit the 70a loader on the 1070, but is the physical size of the loader ok for the 1070? I've searched and can't find anyone with a 70a loader on the 870/970/1070 series. I realize the 70a loader is for the 855/955, but it seems I could easily (relative term) get one to work on my 1070.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I am sure it would be possible to fabricate/modify mounting frames to fit, but I wouldn't recommend it. The 70a was not designed to work on such a heavy, powerful tractor as a 1070. Chances would be high that you would damage the loader due to the extra traction and power the 1070 would be capable of. Also, the 70a wouldn't have the lift capability you would get with the proper loader. The cylinders are much smaller.

Thanks for the response. My thinking was that my "tired" 38hp 1070 wouldn't be that much more powerful than a new 33hp 955 back in the day. I realize it doesn't have the capacities of the model 80 or 440 has, but it would suit me fine.

If the dimensions would work and it fits the tractor ok, I wouldn't mind having a little less of loader. It is priced 3 times less than a comparable model 80 loader I have found...and I would still have to do some fab work as the model 80 is from a 950 tractor.

The 855 and 955 tractors were a bit smaller...I'd be very surprised if the 70A loader is wide or long enough for your 1070.

I've been looking at a bunch of pictures of 70A loaders on 855/955 and one on a 790. My gut feeling is that it would be wide enough and long enough, but it isn't quite tall enough to look right. It even seems a bit short for those tractors in my opinion. I did discover that there is a mounting kit for the 70A loader to go on a 770, which is a noticeably smaller tractor. I think the 70A might look a bit goofy if fabbed up to fit the 1070.

Certain model loaders were made for certain model tractors. A 70A was not for a 1070 so don't try it.
