I posted this as a response under a similar thread, but I thought I better move it to a new thread so some one finds it. I am completely stuck.

I just put a new master wire harness in my 71 gas 3000. I am currently not getting power to the key switch. I used a voltmeter on the key switch and it was dead. I also used a ohm meter to insure that the switch works, which it does. Where does the power to the key switch come from? If I have removed the wire from the coil to the solenoid, would that eliminate power to the switch? I have power from the battery to the solenoid, solenoid to the regulator lead, but nothing to the key switch.

I also screwed up the wiring from the coil to the solenoid. On my solenoid there are four posts. two are labeled, one label "s" one labeled "I". I have three wires coming down from the harness, one goes to the positive post of the solenoid, one is the safety switch(spade connection) to the side labeled "s" and a female bullet connector. Does this lead go to the post labeled "I" or into hte resistor wire, or on the "s" post along side the spade connection? Sorry for the basic questions. I am learning as I go. First time tractor project. Thanks.

I posted in your other thread.. but basicaly.. do you have your service manual? there is a schematic in the back that should help you wire from the regulator to the key and coil. resistor wire is for the key to coil, and solenoid bypasses that for cold start.
