I need a 72" box blade in order to maintain my driveway. What is the best blade for the money? Some have said that the King Kutter will work fine; others say it is junk. Any other brand recommendations that are quality and light on the wallet? What should I be looking at in order to maintain an 800' driveway? I do not want to buy a land plane as I also intend on using the box blade to do some work that the plane cannot do.

I have a frontier. Mines an 84" but they make a 72" also. Bb3272. Won't tear it up

This does not exist, you get what you pay for. Yes you can purchase an inexpensive unit and it very well may work for you, and then it may not. Regardless, a heavier unit will work better for you, pretty much every time.

Nothing wrong with using a box blade to maintain your drive, typically it is just a lot longer learning curve to get it mastered, or at least proficient with one.

Maybe you should let us know what your budget is so that only equipment in your price range is recommended. Otherwise many of us are typically recommending units from $2000-$4000 because those are the units that work best.

Good luck ;)

If you want to save money look for a used heavy duty box blade. If you can find what you need that would be the practical way to save some coins.

Depends on how much time a person wants to wait or how far they are willing to go. There has not been a "good used box blade" for sale around here, well ever that I have seen. I got mine off a guy that was hauling 3 of them to the scrap yard, and he had 3 more. And to tell you my opinion of them, the one that I got was the only one worth saving, I went and looked at the other 3 that he didn't have with him and had to wonder how 1/2" and 5/8" steel got so mangled.

I'm in complete agreement with MtnViewRanch, essentially you get the amount of quality and utility for what you are willing to pay. Yep, I tried that route and "got by" for a lot of years, but now have a couple I use only for ballast or emergencies. I finally accepted the advice of several very knowledgeable poster, MtViewRanch, jenkinsph, ovrszd and others and bout a heavy, quality unit in spite of the cost and it's been one of my best investments.

Just a note from one that maintains a 1/4 mile dirt road: the box scraper is a wonderful tool. but you can get into trouble REAL fast depending on how deep the road surface actually is. If you are moving large rocks [basketball or larger] this device is not likely the first tool. I put bank run gravel on my road annually to build the base, draw out the rocks with a landscape rake and then shape and smooth out the material with the box blade. In those circumstances, I do not have to have the heaviest, most ruggedly built device ever crafted. This point is not to seem contradictory to the previous posts, as I am in agreement with them. But knowing your application helps also to decide on the rugged design vs. wallet dilemma.

I can vouch for the quality of EveryThing Attachments box blades. A well built
attachment which is also useful as a counter weight. I have the 72" one
