Most garden tractors start to have engine problems at 1500 hours or so. I bought a used John Deere XR-95 and have had great luck with it so far. Try a ZTR but make sure it will handle your hills. The guys across the street at work use them on mild hills all day long. I have tried JD and Exmark ZTRs on my property and they just will not work at all.
If you get a RFM your turning radius will increase, well, about the length of the RFM.
To take off the FEL and add or remove the MMM is not that big a deal. Believe it or not-read the instructions that came with the unit. I did everything else then decided to look at the book. You can get real good at it in no time.
