Oil & Fuel 72" mid mount mower gear box oil change

I have a mower deck just like the one in the picture supplied by mars1952 in his thread.
How do I change the gearbox oil. It looks like I need to disassembe the deck to do it??

On my 62C I pulled my check level plug then lifted/rolled over the mower with my FEL, far enough to drain the oil. If no FEL then I would probably invest in a vacuum pump before taking the gearbox apart.

I would go to the Auto Parts Store and get a siphon bulb. They look like a Turkey baster with a skinnier tube. Turning it upside down with the FEL would be easier but messy.

On many mower decks, we can relieve the belt tension, unbolt the gearcase from the deck and work on it on the bench. You have to make sure the gearcase pulley isn't directly attached toa blade spindle. then it is more difficult. Otherwise, if you want to do it on the deck, take the belt off or just make sure you don't spill gear-oil all over everything

I may have missed something but I didn't see an opening on the top of the gearbox. I can't see any plug or anything. Am I missing something??

I looked at mine and it has plugs on both sides. There is a depression on the top but I cant see how to open it.

Check the sides. There might be a fill plug and/or drain plug. There should be a vent plug on the case.

I had my dealer do it on the 4310 this year. Next year I will probably do it, and the rest of my tractor and save at least some of the buck.
