i'm ordering a new 3520 and have questions about 72d auto connect mower. can it be disconnected on a smooth garage floor & after it is how do you move it around? jd shows that you raise the wheels all the way up & lower the deck to sit right on the floor or ground without the use of the wheels to move it around. they also show doing it outside on the grass. you just cant leave a deck sit outside. they are really heavy to move about or lift to lower the wheels. maybe i should be old, fashioned and get the regular 7 iron 72mmm. on my old 72mmm i unhooked it and rolled it around the garage to where i wanted it. you cant roll one on the grass. can someone give me some practical advice on this subject? thanks, bud

I store my deck standing up with Larry's MowerAxles, the only way to store a MMM if you ask me.

So you have a 4410 now? Why the change to a 3520? Unless you are looking at a cab?

hi kenny, i'v had it for 6 years 600hrs. retired, winter boredom, need a new toy. i had considered a cab but will settle for open station. i have a lot of low hanging trees that i can now go under. wanting a new tractor with a cab is what started this whole thing. on my 4410 when i switched over to the front 74 blade for the winter i could no longer use my loader or deck without a couple hours of wrenching, which i had to do twice a year. with the 3520 i can use the 366 front blade with front 3pt a frame so i can switch from loader/deck to blade and back just pulling pins, so i am told. i am a little concerned tho with the new 72d auto connect as i said about dropping it from the tractor, how you handle it after you do, and how you get it out of your way when not on the tractor and will it slip on a smooth garage floor when you try to drive the tractor over it to connect or disconnect. kenny, i'm not that far from westminster. maybe we can get together some time. thanks, bud

Hello all from Maryland as well. I have a 2008 3720 with 70 hours and a Auto Connect MMM. It goes on and off very easy on my garage floor. Once on the ground, I get a 2X4 stud about 3 feet long in one had and with my other hand I lift one side of the deck slide the stud under then lower and lock the wheels - then do the other side...wallah...just push it around on it's own wheels. Be sure to lower the wheels before a reinstall. I'm thinking about getting one of those storage wheel sets as well just to put it on it's side for the off season, but it's moves around pretty good on it's own wheels.

Those axles/wheels are really slick. Will have to check it out for my 72" 7 Iron MMM. Thanks Kennyd for the info.

From their pictures, it would seem very easy to build a pair of those stands with a pair of wheels, short axle and some spacers over the axle. Am I missing something? Seems like a "keep it simple" approach to storage of space is limited.

Sure you can build your own...Price the steel and wheels-then factor in your time to see how much money you would "save".

I have a lathe and a small mill, but still chose to buy them from Larry because of the quality product it is, and the beautiful finish he puts on them-and my time is worth something. I build A LOT of stuff myself-but sometimes buying is better.

Kennyd

The wheels would probably be the more expensive part of the build. I always seem to have a few scrap pieces of iron, rod ect laying around. Can't ever throw steel away unless it is nearly useless to me.

How do you tip the mower up on the stand/wheels? Tip it by hand?
