Didnt know if anyone had any input on what might be going on with my cub before I decide to take it to the shop. Tractor will start up fine, but it just takes off and runs wide open. Only way to shut it off is to block the intake off. I have taken the injector pump apart to see if the rod inside was stuck and I have also replaced the governor solenoid and that didn't do it either. I am out of ideas !!!! Anyone else had this problem??? Its the 30 horse mitsubishi engine. Any help is GREATLY appreciated.

thats kind of what I was worried about. 800 bucks for a new injector pump. Would the engine still start and run even if the injector pump was bad?

pump can not control amount of fuel being delivered. Have it tested. Ask this question in repairs section.

Whoa that's gotta be a little scary having that little diesel scream out of control with no ignition to kill. It must smoke like those heavily boosted tractor-pull jobs. Saw a few gassers loose a governor spring and scream like a banshee. Never saw a diesel do it.

I've heard of diesel engine failures where an engine would start ingesting its own crankcase oil and runaway.

As Bob has said , check your oil level . Sometimes a leaking lift pump or injector pump can dilute the crankcase oil and they can feed off of that , all they need is air . Did you check the throttle shaft lever has not slipped on the shaft ?

Yeah I have checked about everything on it...crank case oil level, injectors, ect. I took it to the dealer saturday morning. After looking at a parts diagram of the injector pump I am hoping it is just one or both of the small springs that control the plates in the injector pump. After having that happen I am adding a fuel shut-off right at the injector pump to shut it down if it ever happens again.
