anyone had this problem:

my loader valve no longer has detent for float or spring pressure to resist it from going into "power down position". i've been making due with it but the other day the valve locked up as though something was inside jamming it.after the tractor sat the valve freed itsellf. i'm thinking a spring broke.

anyone been inside one of these valves? if so is there anything to look out for? can I just pull the two allen screws on top of the problematic valve and gain access to the detent assembly?

thanks

The loader valve is listed in the hydraulic system section of the parts catalog for the tractor it is bolted to. There are several valves used to control a 7308 loader. I have been into some of them, but not all. Go here https://webparts.pvassociates.net/cnh/webparts/main.php to see a breakdown of your valve and decide if you want to dive in. Some detents are simple; some are a little tricky.

thanks Rick--I knew about those parts pages but guess I had a brain fart. It looks like CNH sells a "float/detent repair kit" :D (or once I hear the price maybe :() It looks like the float/detent mechanism is somewhat separate from the actual internal spool which makes it a little less daunting. I'll probably tear into it see what's going on.

thanks again--I'll let you know
