Mahindra 7520 4WD FEL / 2005
I just received a certfied mail concerning a recall on my KMW ML-275 FEL. It concerns unintended immediate dumping due to hydraulic cylinder failure. It sounds as though the bucket cylinders are the ones in question.
I have no idea if this covers all of the KMW's or just a certain date range. My unit will be two years old this October, as a reference for you guys.
If you need further info, I have a ph # included in my notice. I would rather be cursed for posting it than for somebody to get hurt in the meantime!!! 1-800-887-2286, then press "0" for the operator and ask for Tech Support.
I will post any further info that I gather.
FYI, my letter is dated July 20, 2006.
Maybe I can get my stupid service light fixed while I am there!!

Below is the recall notice regarding the bucket hydraulic cylinders for ML-170, ML-270 and ML-275 front end loaders.

Safety Recall Notice
July 20, 2006

Bucket hydraulic cylinders on Mahindra front-end loader models ML-170, 270 & 275.

What is the reason for this notice ?
Mahindra U.S.A., Inc. (“Mahindra”) has recently received reports that bucket hydraulic cylinders on the loader models listed above may fail, without warning, causing the bucket to immediately dump. No injuries have been reported.

What is the hazard ?
The threaded portion of internal shaft/piston of the hydraulic cylinder may break. If the loader bucket fails without warning, anyone who is partially or completely under the bucket, or under loads borne by the bucket, could be seriously injured.

What should you do ?
For safety reasons, the loaders covered by this recall should not be used until necessary repairs have been made !

While the reported number of bucket cylinder failures is small, as a part of Mahindra’s commitment to safety, it is having its dealers replace the bucket hydraulic cylinders as soon as possible with replacement kits supplied by Mahindra at no charge. Loader owners should contact their Mahindra dealer where they purchased the tractor and loader to schedule an appointment to have their bucket hydraulic cylinders replaced. The time required to replace the cylinders should be less than 30 minutes. Mahindra dealers will schedule the replacements as soon as parts are available and Mahindra hopes to have all of the suspect cylinders replaced within 4-6 weeks.

For more information, please contact your Mahindra dealer or Mahindra USA directly at 1-800-887-2286, press zero for the operator and ask for Tech Support.
