7520 2008 with 700 hours. I have a couple intermittent issues that I think (hope) are tied together into one problem.
Occasionally when I turn the tractor off, it will continue to idle. Not a normal idle, but a sputtering, low power idle. Seems to happen totally at random, and my solution has been to just stall the tractor out by putting a load on it. Stalls very easily just engaging first gear or sometimes even running the hydraulics. This has been a very infrequent issue for about a year now.
Lately, it doesn't want to idle right at times, but cycles up and down in RPMs. But again, only intermittently. It seems to do this more when it is cold, and improves with warming up (but doesn't always disappear even when warm). However, some times it runs just fine, cold or hot. When it is acting up, if I keep the throttle at 1500 rpm or higher it does fine. If I try to idle lower, the tractor will cycle, ranging from almost stalling rpm surging up to 1500 and back down. Occasionally it will stall. I'm not sure what the mechanism for maintaining RPM when a load is applied, but it seems that it is slow to ramp up the fuel in response to an RPM drop. Interestingly, when it is doing this, it responds just fine to manual throttle with the foot pedal. No delay, no problem.
Finally, and less likely related, the mechanical throttle mechanism acts a little strangely at times (The hand throttle). It seems stiff, like I have to pull harder than I used to to increase the throttle, and sometimes it doesn't want to decrease the throttle when I pushed it forward, or after I push the foot throttle. In other words, I will be idling along at say, 1200 rpm, and I hit the foot throttle up to 2200 for a short period, then when I release the foot throttle, it will stay at 2200. I have to push the hand throttle up...no change...up some more...no change...up some more, then rpm's fall to low idle or even stall. Put the throttle back where it was at 1200 and start it back up and it will run fine.
Is something sticking? Need adjustment? How is the RPM governed?
Thanks in advance!
Jon
