7520 PTO CLutch not engaging

Hello, for lack of a dealer within 300 miles, I took my 7520 to a local trustworthy mechanic for some simple maintenance and a fix with a broken roll pin I couldn't get out myself. One adjustment I requested was with the main drive clutch, which felt like it was slipping more and more recently. He did a great job with all my requests, but we should have tested the PTO before I left his shop. The main clutch adjustment must have affected the PTO clutch (why would this be, I thought the PTO was independent?), because now I cannot get the PTO to engage (just grinds as if clutch not working). My mechanic will gladly try to make both clutches work correctly, but needs a shop manual or some great free advice from one of you awesome folks. Any ideas?

Does the pto clutch release lever feel the same?? The main and pto clutches have separate actuation shafts in close proximity. Could be he adjusted both? Could be he didnt and your pto clutch is just a little stuck. Easiest way to check is defeat your pto safety switch so you can start the engine with the pto engaged. With an implement loading the output the clutch should break free when you use the clutch lever it if its stuck. If it doesnt immediately go to normal your mechanic should recheck what he did to be sure he didnt adjust both by mistake.

The clutch release lever does feel the same, and unfortunately I have been bypassing the PTO safety switch and it has not helped to get the clutch back to operating normal. Maybe he did adjust both by mistake as you say.

I have been working around the safety switch to run both my haybine and baler the last couple weeks. The PTO does work fine when engaged before starting.
