Regarding the shuttle lever, correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't thing I've ever had to worry about that lever being in neutral to start the tractor - just the speed selector shiftstick needs to be in neutral, right?

Yes, the shuttle shift lever has to be in neutral also. I know on the new 7520's on out lot you have to have all levers in the neutral position to start.

Just an update for everyone - I have been able to use the tractor by jumping
the starter, after having no luck trying the jumper method on the PTO switch, which I guess means that switch is not the problem.

I've been hurrying to get a project done, but hopefully tomorrow I can take a break to try to jumper the safety switch on the transmission, to see if that might be the problem.

Regarding the shuttle lever, correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't thing I've ever had to worry about that lever being in neutral to start the tractor - just the speed selector shiftstick needs to be in neutral, right? And under the speed selector stick is the wire I think I need to jumper to test that switch. If I'm wrong on that, please let me know.

But to BigTy's point, the first day I had problems getting started, I made sure everything was in neutral.

Thanks again, everyone!

Brisimon,
My 6520, just like your 7520, had a wire pulled off of the neutral switch on the bottom of the speed shift lever. There are two wires running to the switch. If you don't have two wires..........................one of them was ripped off while you were working. Mine was ripped off while I was clearing brush.
hugs, Brandi

I still have both wires, but only one terminal to plug into. I've been having too much fun deer hunting, but just yesterday, I finally took the time to jumper the wires together. Just like that, the key will actually start the tractor now!

Thanks to everyone for the great input! Case closed (once I get the switch replaced).

Just to back up Larry's point, my 7520 is an '05 and only the speed shift lever needs to be in neutral to start the tractor.

Thanks,
Brian
