I am considering several tractor brands and recently drove a 6500 4WD. I was a little surprised at the amount of NVH (noise, vibration, harshness) which didn't seem much improved compared to my 25 yo tractor. My question concerns the 20 series tractors which use a different engine. The dealer did not have a 20 series available, but he thought it was a smoother, quieter running tractor.
I need to use ear plugs on my old tractor, while I immediately noticed how quiet the Kubota tractors seem.
Can anyone comment on the Mahindra 20 series tractors?

John3: The 7520 and the 6000 share the same block, etc, but the 7520 has a small turbo unit which boosts the HP about 15 to 75. Kubota may use a more restrictive exhaust system, hence the quieter unit. All diesels are very loud if you take of the mufflers. Being used to 50 year old tractors, I was taken with the smooth effortless power of the 6000. I guess to each his own....Bobg in VA

John:
I have a 6000 and it is a little under powered for my applications. Could not justify the money to go to a 6500 with no major changes. The 7520 looks like a real nice machine, but of course more $. Don't know what your needs are, but if you really need a tractor that big, and you have time, looks like Mahindra will be coming out with even a larger tractor soon. Check out a few of the previous posts about the 7520. Either way, both are real nice. Put 60 plus hp in any working machine and it is going to create some noise.

You do not say in your profile where your from.,We just got in a 7520 last week, with the self leveling loader. If your near Connecticut come on by and try it out. I think you will be impressed, i have been so far. There is less noise than the 6500 in my opinion, as is generally when you add a turbo it quiets the exhaust. The new plat form is really nice the 17 gpm hydrauilics a plus, telescoping 3pt arms, the loader is also pretty impressive too .

Thanks for the replies. I'm in Mississippi, my old bones couldn't tolerate the cold northern winters. I have 160 acres, probably 40% pasture, most will eventually be placed in pines, several lakes and a lot of hardwoods. There is a .3 mile gravel road I need to improve. We plan to start on a barn if it ever dries, then build a house. I am really unsure of the size tractor I need, but I am looking at the Kubota M series and the Mahindra 6500 4WD or 7520. I want a large FEL with grapple, post hole digger, 10' - 14' pull mower, and an 8- 10" bushhog. My wife is pushing me to get a tractor with a cab, she even claims she will help cut open areas if we get the cab. Her real reason for the cab is my history of heart disease and she thinks the cab air will be easier on me in the summer. I'll keep my old 28 hp tractor and 5' foot hog for the woods and thick areas. I'll see if I can find a 7520 nearby to test. I like the platform concept of the cab tractors and the 7520, my size 13s always seem to tangle with the shifter getting on and off.

If she wants a cab take a look at the 7010 cab tractor. I have not seen one yet but have sold several of the 4510 cabs, and its a real nice cab set up. Nice a cold with the a/c on a warm day and this winter the heat will let you work in a tee shirt.
