I own a 'oo 6000 fwd,and farm102 acres with only25 cleared and working on more. The problem is my big feet, they get stuck in the clutch pedal on the cramped platform. My son is using now with the same problem. I called to upgrade to a flat platform 7520 fwd,fel and the price was 36,000***. I have a question for the dealers, this is outragious,especially since he stated mine was only really worth 10000,but was allowing 16000. I really like these tractors but I can buy a JD for less and the resale would be twice as much. Any comments?

Where do you live? That makes a huge difference in price.

The basic rule of thumb is that dealers are not going to give you the real value of your tractor during trade-in. The dealer isn't going to give you $16000 for a tractor that is valued at $10000. Sounds to me like he is jumping up the trade-in to $16K and then adding on an extra $6K to the price of the 7520. $36K for the 7520 puts you into MSRP range for the 7520 w/FEL; prices for Mahindras usually run a lot less than MSRP.

In general, unless you are dealing with the lowest priced value models, you can get a tractor and FEL for the MSRP of the tractor alone. The MSRP of the 7520 4WD is $29,900, you can probably get the tractor with a loader for about that same price, i.e., $30000.

A new 6000 4WD will run about $23K-$24K with a FEL. I would think a 2000 model in pretty good shape would be worth $15-$18K with a FEL.

Before you compare to another brand, be sure you compare the same things. Is each tractor outfitted with all the same options? How much are they going to give you for the trade in? What is the bottom line $$$$ from each dealer? When you have this info, then you can make a fair comparison.

Problem is no one here is familiar enough with them to be able to sell it easily so trade in is easier. A friend has a 7040 kubota and nice but nothing like my 6000. If the 6000 could be sold outright and not traded in you would likely be a lot of money ahead. Dealers don't really like trade-ins, as they have to tie up money in the machine.

It's never financial fun trading up, down or sideways to a new machine. It's less fun if you own Red in an area where Red is not spoken and Lime Green rules. But it's clear that you can get more net savings selling outright and working a straight cash deal than by trading your Red Beast in. No way you can't sell your machine for a lot more than the *REAL* trade-in credit you are getting.

I would also consider "trading up" to a used 7520. There are certainly more available down your way than up my way. To my way of thinking, unless you need or want the zero percent financing, some of the very best bargains out there are often found in slightly used Mahindras!

It wouldn't surprise me if you could find a used 7520 in the low to mid 20s. I also would check the year on your 6000 - I would bet it is an 02 or 03. Regardless, you rarely see tractors like that priced much below the mid teens(4WD & Loader the 2WDs however do seem to be dropping on down). If it isn't worth that you could almost keep it and buy a used 7520 for what the dealer quoted.

The serial number is what they use although I'm not sure they actually give them a year model - just original sale date. I deal with Tarheel Tractor in Granite Falls or Lenoir. Dellingers in Vale also carried Mahindra - not sure they are still a dealer. I bought a track loader in Hickory so will be hopefully getting it moved down to the farm. I'll give you a call.
