Gentlemen,

I have searched the forum, with no definitive results.

I have an opportunity to buy a very nice 757c backhoe that has a ford 1720 subframe. It looks close to what I'll need for my TC33D, but the part numbers are not the same. I can't do a very close comparison as the backhoe and tractor are 2 hours apart and not getting closer before purchase.

So, the cost of the subframe would be prohibitive, but if the modification is simple, I would move ahead with the purchase.

Hoping one of you have crossed this bridge and can guide me.

Are you still able to purchase the brackets which stay permanently attached to the TC33D? Mine has 3, one across the rear in the back and 2 that come down from near the loader supports. I'm sure someone could fabricates these brackets, but my guess is the sub-frame for a 1720 could be adapted to the TC33D much easier if you had the brackets.

Thx - the brackets seem to still be available, but ridiculously expensive. Trying to walk the fine line between waiting to find the unicorn (right backhoe, right subframe, 3 tractor brackets), and spending too much to acquire them separately.

Mostly just wonder is someone has already done this conversion to the subframe

I have the 757C for my TC33D and probably only live about 25-30 miles from you if you would like take a look at its setup. If you can weld or know someone who can it might not be that much to modify, but that's a big guess on my part.

I would get the key measurements from thclimer , then compare them to what you are purchasing . Are you sure that the 1720 subframe is at least close to the correct length and width to work on your TC33 ? Although in looking at my 757C on my TC30 , You may be able to fudge a little in fabricating the front brackets that are by the loader mounts , in both width and length , if it is narrower , then ???

You could rebuild the subframe to be a almost exact match , but would require more time and work , but in the end may be a cheaper , faster way than trying to find a actual TC33 sub frame . By getting all the measurements and maybe even pictures , It could be a worth while project .

Apologies for the delay in responding - been traveling a bit.

I wonder if I could ask you to take a few measurements for me? I will attempt to paste a picture below. What I want to know is:
Length of the subframe (end to end of the beams)
Width of the subframe
Distance from the backhoe side of the subframe to the holes at the front end, that mount midpoint on the tractor

My thinking is if the width is the same and the length is the same, what will be different is the distance to the front holes (since the back holes mount to the backhoe, I assume those are the same regardless of what tractor - they will be sized for the 757C backhoe)

If you can take those measurements, I'll get the same from the 1720 frame, and see if this is doable.

Many thanks in advance. If you can't do it, might I be able to take a trip down there myself?

My 757C hasn't been used for a few years so it has some clutter around and on it. I did however take a few pictures (see attached) of the width of the frame where the pins attach near the loader supports for you. The internal width is 18.5" and the overall width is 21.75" This should help confirm the dimensions Spitter gave you. Let me know if you need anything else.
