Looking for a bit of help here guys. My BH boom started dropping if left sitting for a week. Can use the boom lock to keep it up, but was wondering if anyone else out there has the problem? Checked the UTF fluid, and it seems OK, but there are many different levels mentioned. Whats correct? Anyone out there with the repair manuals? Is there anything on adjustments for this?

Thanx in Advance.....

Mine is only a year old and it drops a little over night if I forget to clamp it. I have had no trouble from it. I think it may be normal. I normally stretch it out where the shafts are concealed inside the housings when I park it for a while. If at a remote location on a job I put the safety clamp on it. No one should fool with it, but kids will be kids and I nevery leave my hydraulics up where they can fall if the levers are pressed.

It's supposed to do that. The way it was explained by the dealer to me is one of the relief valves is designed to let a small amount of flow all the time, the purpose is to prevent shock loads when moving the tractor caused by the boom bouncing around. My 758c was dropping so fast I could see it and the valve had to be replaced, which solved the problem, but it still will drop over time. I second the motion to lock the boom or set it down when parking, safer and easier on the sysem.

There is nothing wrong with your backhoe.

That's exactly the reason for the lock. Mine has dropped since new.

Mine does the same thing, and the satbilizers are leaking down too, the bucket uncurls a little... I use the lock for the boom... I wish there were locks for the stabilizers there too..

I noticed the 758 has locks for the stabalizers, just like the lock for the arm. Has anyone tried adding the locks to the stabalizers?
See attached picture of a 758 BH.
I was thinking I could buy the locking plate and have someone weld on the stubs...

On another post about the dropping boom, someone said they use a ratchet strap between the two.
