757C vs 758C

I am in need of a backhoe - which one? This will be used for a wide variety of projects around 140 rural acres using a TC40D; trenches, stump removal, digging out multi-flora rose by the roots, replacing the collapsed pond overflow, working the creek, footings, etc.. I prefer to stay w/ NH vs. others. I know the 758C has more power at additional cost. However, having never used a backhoe, I cannot relate to the cost vs. effectiveness. Why one over the other?

You might want to look at the Woods Backhoe X series in addition to the NH products. Our NH dealer is also a Woods dealer and recommended the Woods over the NH BH. We're very pleased with our Woods BH90-X.

The BH90-X has a mechanical or hydraulic thumb option available and the BH70-X & BH80-X have just a mechanical thumb option.

My brother & I chose the BH90-X (w/ hyd thumb and the 18" Gannon bucket) for our TC40DA and have not regretted it one bit. It is very powerful. We compared the 90 side by side with the 80 on another TC40 and the 90 made the 80 look downright puny, eventhough it's only one foot shorter.

I would recommend the larger BH if your budget will allow. The increased dimensions and power are still well within the 40's capability. The increased length and power will come in handy for the type work you are considering.

I have used my 757c for trenches (water and drain pipe), cleaning ditches removing stumps and planting trees. I'm also using it to clean the edges of my ponds (cattail removal) and for that I wish I had another foot of reach. Otherwise power has been fine for my needs.

I do have a 12" and an 18" bucket. I like both.

The comparison is an eye-opener. I wanted to stay w/ NH to support the local (and nearest) dealer, though I can see the usefullness of the grapple arm. Hmmm...

For me, the extra $600 for the extra power and reach was worth it. I can't remember the details, but I don't think there's much weight difference either.

If it's only a $600 difference between the two, the choice is simple. I've heard numbers that vary widely. Waiting for the dealers quotes.

I have the 759 and think its small and i have seen the 757 and 758 and they are really small and i wouldnt think about the 757 at all. you need at least a 758.
