I am trying to help a friend out with a recently purchased JD 770.. The ignition switch was replaced just before he bought it. since then he has put a new battery in it as well. It will not start after being run. Charge the battery for 3-4 hours and it starts fine. I checked the voltage at the battery with the engine running at 1500RPM and again shut down. voltage was 3 volts less with engine running. ??? found the voltage rectifier/regulator with severe burn marks on the + terminal... decided to look at the ignition switch.. The TS appears to be wired into the ignition switch improperly. Can anyone supply a wiring diagram that shows the wire colors and where they should be attached the the ignition switch?? The TS appears to be a grid?? in the intake just upstream of the intake manifold, I unplugged and the voltage at the battery went up 7 volts.. It is currently wired into the ignition side of the switch and Ts terminal..I think it is draining the battery faster than the alternator/ regulator can replenish.. Many thanks in advance. my email addy yelloh564@msn.com
