790 and 990 made by Yammer??

When I was out looking last week for a new tractor I had heard that the 790 and 990 are built by Yammer for John Deere.
Are all the other compacts built in Georgia?
Any truth to this?

i think you mean Yanmar. this series of tractor has been replaced by the 3005 and 4005(although from what i can tell they're the same tractor just different numbering). they are built by Yanmar and Deere puts Yanmar engines in all their tractors from the 2000 series up to the 4000 series. i'm not sure where Deere builds their compacts, but i have heard the assembly is in GA. dont quote me on that though. if you're thinking of a 790 or a 990, you will be pleasantly happy with your purchase as they are ultra reliable.

As RF said, they are made by Yanmar in Japan. Probably final assembled here somewhere though the plate on the back clearly says Japan. I have a 790 and it's been great. Yanmar has been around forever and is a well know producer of tractors and engines. Their small marine diesels are quite well regarded.

Robert, just do a search of the Deere forums here for 790 and read the threads. You will find that a bunch of people on this forum (and others) own this model and absolutely love their tractor. The word I have seen the most often to describe the 790 is "bulletproof".
