Re: 790 hydraulic\'s

You could add the Rear Auxiliary Hydraulic Kit (part no BM18005, about $160). Not hard to install, good instructions, My 3 point wouldn't work when I finished, but had to run up the rpm's build enough pressure to purge the air from the system. You would also need to get a second quick connect male and female that will connect the the kit's outlets and some hose to plumb to a your valves, then hose and connectors for the rear of your tractor. I found 1/4" quick connects at Central Tractor that matched the factory quick connects ($14 per M/F). I did this to add tip and tilt to my JD790 (already had the factory valves for the loader) instead of a dual valve I used a tripple to add tilt to both sides of the 3 point. Hope this helps.

Re: 790 hydraulic\'s

Hello All , I am still trying to add a open center valve to my tractor. The dealer wants to sale me a scv valve. All I need is ONE remote to work a one way cylinder on my rake and dump wagon. I have seen on the photo forum some of you have add a valve on the fender of your tractor. That's what I am wanting to do?? The 790 has a open center hydraulic system. So I thing it can be done? Do any of you know where to plumb the line into the tractor? What do you all thing ANY help would be great. Barry

Re: 790 hydraulic\'s

Johnson - since my above suggestion of adding the rear hydraulic kit, you could build it yourself to get a circuit to a valve. I'm going to try to explain where to tap into the rockshaft to get power - this is where the rear kit taps in. Look under your seat (standing at the rear of your tractor) You will notice one hex bolt and two hex covers one taller than the other (the two on the right are a round 3/4 or 7/8 inch hex) . The taller one is the one on the extreme right. If you look down the side of the rockshaft housing to the right of the taller, you will see a hex bolt (also 3/4 or 7/8") this is the supply port used for output to scv or the rear kit. If you remove this bolt, and add a hex plug in the port inside the rocksaft housing, and appropriate fittings, you will create a source of power. You will also need a return to the rockshaft housing for the fluid from the valve. This return port is below the taller hex cover to the front of the rockshaft housing. You willl see hex bolt and banjo fitting in front of the taller hex cover, this is the pressure line from you hydraulic pump. The return port is below this fitting. Its to the right of the 3 point drop rate valve. If your dealer is close, see if he will let you see the shop manual, this is illustrated on page 270-05-21. I think I covered where the taps are, but I can't guarantee if it will work or if fittings are available to fit these ports. If you try it, let me know. If I can be of more help, give a yell. If you don't have the parts catalog and the technical manual, I would recommend getting them, they're not cheep, but you can get a great idea of how things work and go together.

Re: 790 hydraulic\'s

Thanks for the help! Will go by dealer and look at books,if i read you right would it be better to buy the power beyond kit to hook my valve for my remote? Or would it be better to make up a kit,if i can find the fittings?

Re: 790 hydraulic\'s

Since I purchased the Kit, you may say I took the easy way out. But in my defense, I did add Tip and Tilt to my 3 point hitch buying all the parts and building my own including welding the ends on the cylinders. I looked at making my own rear remote hookup, but with already having the scv, space was limited on the front end for running lines and fittings in my opinion. But since you do not have the scv, you have more room. I would pull one on the plugs and take it to my local hydraulic shop and see if they can match the treads. It would be a good Idea to look at the JD books before starting so you are sure what you are doing.

Good luck.
