Hi all,
Was previously registered as Dusty Road but couldn't remember the password and the email I used to create the account is no longer active...
I am the "proud" owner of a John Deere 797 with 1500+ hours on it. it's on it's 3rd engine but I am sure the PTO is original. I am having a problem with the PTO engaging intermittently. I replaced the switch because a) it was cheap and b) it would sometimes turn off on its own. That did not fix the problem. I am getting 12v+ to the PTO with the switch on, whether I am in the seat or not. Is there anyway to check to see if the PTO is bad? Can I just hit it with a completed 12v circuit to test? I don't want to throw a $300 PTO at it just to see if it sticks!
Edit: after more research I'll check the air gap when I get home and post my findings
anyone have a wiring diagram???
Thanks,
Mitch
