John Deere 7H17 Commercial Walk Behind Mower
When I stop the mower to disengage the blades & pull the grass bag off, there's excess heat coming from under the mower. The excess heat is toasting the grass right under the place where I stopped the mower. This isn't really good for business because it's putting brown spots all through the yards.
I have called my local dealership & they say they've never heard of this problem. I run high test fuel, change the oil regularly, & do routine maintenance. This is a new problem to which I have no solution. Can someone please help?

:welcome: to the forum.

Simplest (didn't say easiest) would be to move to an area without grass to burn when removing the grass bag.

Best would be to learn where/what can cause that much heat. That seems like a lot of heat, or it sits too long in one spot.
Is the scorched spot everywhere under the deck? or located under the engine? or located under one or more spindles?
After running a while, next time feel under the deck to determine what is over-heating.

Is this length of time smoke time, break time, or just normal time to remove bag and dump? Long walk to the dump site?

New problem, meaning it just started after using the mower for a period of time, or has been new since first running this walk-behind?
