8 n 3 point hitch wont work

I had to replace the drift shaft, so i got a new one in it working. well that it stopped working all together, wont go up or down.
i ended up taking the top off and found a little pin that had broke from some where and i cant find where it broke from. i looked for pictures to found where it might of came from but no luck.
i dont know if it came from under the seat or lower
the drift shaft was really loose
any ideas?

ok so i found where the pin goes
the drift shaft doesnt have a spot for it to go into.
So now the question is does it matter if you have a drift shaft and plate that has this pin? can you tighten the big spring on the back to take up the slack?

A couple of things to check:

1. PTO engaged?
2. Does the ball end of lift control arm engage the lift control valve?
3. Was the cam or cam follower pin worn?
4. Position Control Lever up for PC?
5. How did you remove the draft control yoke from the draft plunger?
6. Set tension on draft control spring - Spring should have no end play but may still be rotated with fingers and thumb.
7. You can try moving the quadrant back by loosening the four retaining bolts that hold the quadrant to the lift housing.

i put it all back together and it works fine without the pin that broke off.
