This evening I moved bags of lime on a pallet. With forks pallet and 20 x 40lb bags the rear wheels would lift on any kind of turning on level asphalt surface. I found that I had to take two bags off to get good stability where I could make reasonable turns. So the truly usable load seems to be forks + pallet + 720 lbs.

I drove the load on level grass a distance of about 200 feet and found that I occasionally had to "pump" the forks to keep them level and even tweak up the "boom". I'm assuming this is normal but if not please let me know...

That sounds about right for a load that is even from front to back on the forks. If you have a heavier load that is close to the plate you can probably go higher with out a problem.

That sounds about like my experiences with concrete patio blocks. OK till you turn, then down you go. Straighten up and up you go. Once you are comfortable with this, it just becomes natural. You can even use it to your advantage for turning the unit around on two wheels. Eventually(and I know this sounds corny) you become one with the machine. It just becomes an extension of your body and feels completely natural. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

MR: I am starting to know what you mean. I have 22 hours on mine and was out for 3 hours today pulling out small saplings, briars and vines from a stream bed. It was the first time that I really put some work on the tractor with the mini hoe. Amazing how you can dig out a stream bed without even using the curl to dig. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Anyway, I was pulling a lot of heavy stuff out by the roots and frequently had the tractor up on two wheels. At first it spooked me, but I eventually got used to it, though never comfortable, but functional.

Yep. You just have to anticipate that it is going to happen and as it does, decide if you want to continue or not. I don't like getting it up on two wheels on purpose, just because I don't want to constantly put stress on the middle joint. But when needed, I have no problem doing it.

I use it as an indicator that hey, maybe I should attack this project from a different angle or take a smaller bite. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif
