841 Diesel intake system (help!)

I recently recieved a 60ish 841D from a family friend that was moving. I have worked on several IH products, but this is the first Ford I have ever had. The previous owner was a NYFD Batallion Chief that died on 9/11 and this tractor sat at the edge of a field for the last 9 years. After about 4 hours of filter/fluid changes, intake and exhaust inspections, and a check/charge on the electrical system, It started up! The problem I have is that the (as i'm told) Oil bath cup and clips are missing. If I have been informed correctly they are what is attached to the bottom of the air box/plenum. I have the piping from the hood into the back of the box, but the bottom is wide open. There is some screen(not the mesh that I have heard about) inside the air box, but that is it. I have had no luck finding a replacement on any sites that I have checked. If anyone can point me in the right direction on this it would be greatly appreciated.

Try Wengers( you can google search to find them) or other savage yards. Look on ebay. You'll have to do some foot work but I'm sure someone will have one. Try Yesterday's tractors we site. Lot of Ford stuff there.

I tried Wengers, they said they don't have it. Production has been discontinued apparently, and the best chance is a salvage yard. That is the new plan. I started checking salvage yards yesterday, hopefully I can locate one soon.

place a wanted add on YTMAG there are plenty of users there that have parts for sale.

if noting else, lookup the exploded diagram, and you may end up having to fabricate something.

I think these are readily available on ebay. Example:

Searched on "Ford (600,800) air". The clamp is also available there.

Edit: whoops, just noticed the 'D' - are the diesels different?

This is one of the later round style cups. The one that is on the 801 series is a rectangular shaped dish that was held in place by clamps at the narrow ends. I have calls into several scrap yards, and should know something in the next day or so. I have found a complete intake assy for $350 which has the cup and clips, which may be the best option. Hopefully I can get just the cup and clips though....

Ah yes, I did a little more looking - looks like the diesel went from the rectangular one that you have to a round one similar to the gasoline filter. But the round diesel cup shows a different part number than the (round) gasoline cup, so it would appear that the ones on eBay wouldn't fit even the later diesels...

You would think that one of these would fit and the whole assy is under $100. If that won't work, a new style round canister with a paper filter might be retrofitted for another solution.

I bet you could retrofit any of the larger ones via pipe/tubing/hosing, even if you did have to make a custom mounting flange. If you wanted metal plumbing.. perhjaps a job for the local muffler shop?
