Are you getting any smoke ? If so what color. How was the cam ring inside the pump was the lobes wore on the cam ring How was the liner and blades in the rear of the pump. Have you had the injectors checked . The internal pump timing you can't get out of time . But if you put the cam ring in backwards it will make you have low power. Why did you build the pump. Was it leaking or did you have a power problem? I use to build injection pump and injector . It may just need some fuel turned to it. Also j.d used a couple of different pump is yours a Lucas cav or a standyne(roosa master) the best I remember I think yours has a Lucas cav

it ran like a top, started right up when it was cold and then it froze up last winter, got it thawed out, drained the fuel, put new fuel in and changed the filter, would not start, got to start on ether. never had any power, I've replaced the injectors no change, had the injection pump rebuilt put it back on still would not run right. starts hard no power, it used to never smoke now it has white smoke and the people I've talked to said the injection timing is off but I thought I did it right the last time, didn't know if there was directions or what manual do I need to buy that has step by step directions. The pump needed completely rebuilt, it wasn't the normal rebuild. Cost me $1700. Not sure which pump or the other questions. My dad put it on for me. He has done several of our tractors with this one being the first issue.

Wow $1700 repair on inj pump is a lot. Plug(parts key 3) covers holes for using engine turning tool and timing pin. Engine should be placed on #1 TDC. Besides checking timing I'd suggest to check compression as top rings are easy to break with ether on JD 300 series engines such as your tractor.

Well the pump where mounts up the holes are sloted to fine tune the timing . Crank your tractor let it run get up to temperature look to see what color smoke you have . If it is white advance your timing heavy black ****** your timing. But when you go to adjust timing stop the engine adjust timing then try again. If you try to adjust with the engine running you could lock up the injection pump. I here of people adjust timing with it running but I have seen many many pump being built due to adjust timing with the engine running. I think it needs just a little adjustment you should be good to go then. It doesn't take bout 1/16" to make a couple degrees on timing. So just move it a ltitle bit goes a long ways . Mark you a line where it is now that way if get mixed up on which way you went you got a start point of where you started good luck let me no how it turn out

Set my timing to tdc. The timing mark that is visible is B4, but it is in the middle of the snap ring. Also removed the window by the radiator to see the position of the keyway and it is at 8 O'Clock from the front of the tractor looking back. What are the correct position's? Thanks
