My father in law bought a used head for his 1950 8n to replace the head on his tractor. His head has been repaired a couple of times and now has a new leak. The existing head has the coil mounted in front with a tapped hole on the side and front of the head. The new head does not have these holes to accommodate the coil. Is there another location the coil can be located? If so can someone post a picture so we can see where or how to relocate the coil.

Second, the new head on the left side has the oil filter bracket holes, but also has what looks like a 9/16 or a 5/8 plug right behind those oil filter bracket mounting holes.

Besides these two differences are the two heads created equal/same?

He needs the correct head. He apparently got a head from a '51 or '52 tractor with the side mounted distributor.

As I Understsnd It, In 50 They Made Front Mount And Side Mount Dist. His existing Distributor Is Mounted On The Side. IT Is The Coil That Is Mounted In The Front. Other Than The Coil Mounting Holes And Oil Filter Bracket Holes Are The heads Basically The Same?
