I have a 1952 8N (12v) and it mis-fires occasionally ... but if I lift the plug wire slightly (approx. 1/2 - 1" away) at the missing plug it runs smoother. If I do this for a while I can reconnect it and it runs great. I am told to put in a HOTTER plug? I am not near my tractor as I write and do not know what plug but I believe it is an H-10.

Will the H-12 do ... or should I go to an even hotter plug?

How hot it too hot?

Thanks,

H12 is the next up from the H10.. Autolite 437 is in the same range as an H12.. and IMHO.. AL foul MUCH LESS than champion plugs. It's been my experience that fords don't like champion plugs much..

What you relate means that plug is fouling.. pull it and see whay it is fouling.. is it just from sheer age and needs replacement.. or is it carbon fouling-fuzzy and black/sooty ( too rich ).. or is it oil fouling - greasy-black ( bad oil control ring )..

ideally, the center insulator should be a tan color.. if it is ashen white it is too lean.. and the other colors i already mentioned.
