8N PTO shaft seal

When I'm replacing the leaky PTO shaft seal do i lubricate it and if so with what kind of lubricant? Thank you I know it's probably a dumb question but I've never done it before!

Same oil as you have in the rear of the tractor. Is this a modern rubber sealing or a vintage sealing that has to soak in oil for hours?

Also how do I get it apart can't see a snap ring or way to remove. Thanks for helping the rookie? Now I can't figure out how to attach pictures off from my phone so I'm having a day!
