I've had a YM2220D for several years and want to replace severely checked/cracked 9.5-22 rice tires (R2's ?) with a less aggressive tread (Hopefully to smooth the ride and reduce wifely complaints about tractor tracks across the yard.). The mounted wheels are 22" rims and tires that were on the tractor when I bought it, but all the literature says the rear tires should be 9.5-24 deep lug and the fronts should be 6-14 deep lug. My fronts are the 6-14's that were on the tractor when I bought it, but look to be R1 tread - at least they aren't nearly as deep lugged as the rears.
I'm cognizant of the need to match rolling circumference of the front and rear tires with the 4WD gearing ratio, and I've noticed no problems in that respect with the current setup. Perhaps the rolling circumference of the smaller diameter deeper lugged rears are compatible with the proper diameter shallower lugged fronts. If that's the case maybe I'm asking for trouble mounting 9.5-22 R1 or R4 on my current rims and retaining the 6-14's on the front.
I'm somewhat uncertain about where to go from here. I'm leaning toward replacing the 22" rear rims with 24" rims and tires since that's what the manuals say should be on this tractor. But, there doesn't seem to be a great surplus of Yanmar 24" rims so identification of any compatible rims would be appreciated. Current rims are 6 hole, ~5.5"/140mm bolt circle, ~3.75"/95mm center hole - measured with a tape measure of questionable accuracy.
If anyone out there has any comments or advice, please weigh in. All will be appreciated.
