The ONE day that it isn't raining , and I'm WAY behind with the mowing ......the lower seal blows. RATS !!! Everything seemed fine until that dreaded gear oil odor. So, if anyone has replaced the seal on a 48" 914 , some tips would be great. The deck has about 300 hrs. on it. dass

Dass,

I haven't had to do it. Good luck with yours. I'm pretty sure the gearbox unbolts from the deck. Probably easier to work on it on a bench than on the garage floor.

hazmat, I'm headed out to the shop to work on it as soon as I read a few more posts. I expect the 54 and 60 " decks are similar. Had to order the seals. I'll have 'em tomorrow.....I HOPE !
