I am sure somewhere there is a thread regarding this but I haven't found it.

Is it feasable to sharpen blades on a 914 mower without removing the whole mower? can you get the blades off while mower is still under the tractor? Any tricks or pointers will be great a help.

Thanks,
Neil

It can be done. I did it that way last year. But the next time I will take the deck off the tractor as is was very difficult beaking the hub bolts loose and keeping the spindles from turning. Needed more hands or ground clearance.

I tried taking them off while the deck was still on. Never again. It only takes 5 minutes to take the deck off, lift up with your loader and the blades are right there to take off. I also found out that you best sharpen them yourself if you can. Most sharpening companies charge an arm and a leg to sharpen. New blades were only 2 bucks each more than sharpening. So now I have two sets and I just exchange them out and sharpen on my own time.
