Excuse me if I haven't searched enough on our site.

Has anyone got an easy way to get a 914 mmm on and off, or a modification of fabication to aid, ramps, lifts no brainer, quick and easy?

Many a time I wish it wasn't there, as my tractor is not a didicated mower, but cuts a lot of grass as well. Should I just sell and go for RMM? Using NH 29 Super Steer which can get me into problems swinging wide at rear.

Thanks,
Neil

If I remember right, my 914 takes just 4 pins to be removed and then the Mid PTO shaft. Lift the front of the tractor a bit with the FEL and slide it out. Taking it off takes less time than putting it back on. Make sure you have a solid/hard surface to slide it out.

Neil,

I have a TC 33DA and a 914A MMM. I would not sell my MMM for a Rear Finish mower as even when using the rotary cutter in relatively open areas I can some times get it too close to something or catch an edge and gouge the ground.

As far as removing the MMM adjust the cutting height to 2 to 2 1/2" before you try to pull it out and be sure to pull it out from the left side. If you have a front end loader, and it is on, then lift the front end high enough to slide out under the front tires. Very easy. But, as even though I have a loader, it is never on when finish mowing the yard and I may not be taking off the mower and putting on the loader. In this case I use a 4 ton floor jack to raise the front of the tractor. If you have a heavy enough floor jack place it under the front axle and raise the front as high as possible and slide the mower out while turning the front wheels right and left to work the deck out. If you have neither a suitable jack or a front end loader follow the manual and turn the tires and slide the deck and keep working at it. It can be done this way it is just a major pain.

The more times you do it the easier it will get.

When removing and installing the 914A MMM on my TC24D, I have found having the rear gauge wheels set one setting higher makes it much easer to make the connections. Once installed, I set it to the corresponding setting. With the cushion lift system set up correctly to pitch the deck slightly forward, it makes it very tough for me to line up the pins with the deck on a level floor. A little expermentation might make things easier. A FEL obviously helps, but as mentioned above not an absolute necessity.
