This may be well known, but in case it helps someone out....
The New Holland site lists a long and short Hydraulic filter (w/o calling them that), essentially a clearance option depending on year/options.
CNH D8NN-B486-CA was confirmed to me as the hi-capacity Hydraulic filter by the local dealer. (Long version).
Some of my confusion came from the Fleetguard LF3342 that came on the tractor. (I think Cummins uses HF to designate their Hydraulic filters). The LF3342 happens to be the same body length as what WIX lists for a Hydraulic filter for the 3930. So.... I had an extended discussion with the local NH dealer trying to figure out what was up....(the LF3342/WIX listing is about 1.5" shorter).
(It seems that WIX has standardized on the short Hydraulic filter).
I can't find specs for the LF3342, but looking at what WIX crosses it to, and comparing it to the WIX hydraulic filter for the 3930, the main difference seems to be lack of Bypass Valve and a different Beta ratio (2/20=7/28 vs. 2/20=15/32).
1) What is the significance of the Beta ratio ?
2) Assuming the old LF3342 didn't plug up, was it doing anything nasty to the Hydraulic system ? (No unusual noises, and the 3 pt arms would raise/lower).
(The "WIX equivalent" lists Allison Trans. as an application, so I'm hoping the LF3342 was not that far off the mark).
3) Any "Hydraulics for Dummies" sites ?
Thnx, Rgds, Dave.
