950 buying need advice

I owned two at different times one had a loader.
All I can say is that they are under powered and expensive to repair.
If you are really gone to work this tractor, other then very small projects don't be surprised when you learn they just don't cut it.

The price is also high for a 23 H.P/ compact tractor. I paid 4400 for the tractor w/ loader and sold it very quickly. The other tractor was taken on trade and that was sold just as quick.

You paid 4400 for an 870 with a loader.. was it in rough shape because around here something like that would be sold in about 10 minutes LOL...

I seen a really rough shape 950 with loader no bucket posted for $4500. and called the seller 2 hours after he listed it, he told me he could'nt believe it himself but it was bought paid for and gone in less than an hour from him posting it for sale.. 4500 for any green tractor with a loader that runs and drives with no serious problems is a ****ing deal

I bought the 950 John Deere w/ loader in Burbon Missouri.
It did have a few minor flaws body wise. The grill was dented and a small dent on the hood. Other then aforementioned it was in decent shape, maybe could have used a new paint job.

My point is this, the JD 950 is a compact with low H.P. and not much in lifting capacity. As I pointed out in my other post they are fine for small jobs,
such as a landscaping comp. would use. But they are very limited in power and high priced on parts.
One other point, NEVER NEVER use starting fluid in the winter it will with out a doubt cause engine problem or worse.

Now the older John Deere"s are unbeatable, such as the 820, 830. 1020. 1520,
2040 just to name a few. Parts are widely available and these work horses keep
on ticking. Loaders are plentiful as well as a backhoe. Much more bang for your Buck.
