ALL J-D's: 955, X595, 6x4 Diesel Gator, CX Compact Gator, 310D Loader/Backhoe (4x4, turbo, extend-a-hoe)
My old reliable (kinda' like me :D) 955's almost paid for, so, naturally, those shiny new ones at the dealer are calling out as I pass by. I've been trying to avoid them, but, the calls are getting louder. :)

So, I'm looking at a 3720 with deluxe cab and 300 CX loader, plus a bunch of other doodads, BUT, the single determining factor in this whole equation is - how high is it? Sounds goofy, but, my garage door is 83-7/8" high, clear, and the 955 with JD canopy goes in with 1/2" to spare. I remember the day the 955 was delivered - I looked at the garage door, then the canopy, then the garage door, canopy, etc..., with that weird feeling (uh-oh, what now??) for more than a few minutes!!!

I can't find the o'all height with deluxe cab anywhere at the JD site. Probably didn't look hard enough. Does anyone know what the o'all height dimension is with 27x8.50-15 front and 41x14-20 Rear R3's?

Thanks.

Tires do change the numbers (varies from 88.5" to 89"), so I would say you need a minimum of 90".

According to a brochure I have, a 3000 twenty series with cab and R1 tires is 89.4 inches.

Shame on you! Are you really gunna to let a silly little thing like that keep you from buying that there cool JD toy? Oh the shame of it all, oh my, oh my.

Now I say son, I say, your garage door header is just built too low to the ground. I mean, you gotta get a new garage there son. Now I want you to be thinkin' about how cool your new shed is gunna to be, there son, and then I want you to think about where it'sa gunna be. Then I want you to think about how nice that extra space is gunna be in your old garage, now that you don't have that there old tractor it in. Then you just go out and get that there new tractor.

I'd be getting either a new door, or putting on a tractor port... I wouln't let that stop me.. When I want something, no door is going to stop me...

This has nothing to do with door height , I just want to say how much I miss my 955. I traded up to a 4410 wanting to get all modern and such and really miss the simplicity the 955 provided.

I sometimes miss the compact size, but I never miss the wimpy loader, tiny 3pt and weak hydraulic pump. I have never regretted upgrading to the 3720. After just doing my 50hr breakin, I still grin every time I get on it.

I do however, know what you mean. I love the simplicity of my 2355. It is so much easier to work on than the 3720, or the little 55 for that matter. Much of that has to do with the openess of the large frame though. Compacts can be a pain.

Ah, a wiseman asking height questions before buys . . . Unlike another poster here (me), I went from a JD755 with the tall ROPS for a BH to a 2210. No problem, the sub-CUT has to have a ROPS lower than the bigger 755. WRONG! My shed has seen several modifications to clear the 2210 ROPS.
