i'am looking to buy a 955 with a a70 fel. the machine is a 1998 with 800 hrs. can any one tell me if this is a good machine and a good price to pay for it . thanks woody

I had a 755 and 855 tractors. I belive they are very good relible tractors. Never had much problems with either one. If the 955 is in good shape I think it's a buy, but thats your decsion.

The 955 was made in Japan (a plus IMHO) by Yanmar and a very reliable machine. It is a little light (2000 pounds w/o loader or attachments) for some applications, but for mowing, that is a blessing. I very much liked mine--in the two years I had it, there was never a service call (made up for that with my first 4400 with umpteen service calls). With the new "10" models coming out, I would imagine the resale values of the 4400 and 4300, etc. models would fall and they might be better overall values providing that they were early models with ALL upgrades including new front axle or more recent models which came with the upgrades. Of course it is YOUR money I am spending, so it is easy for me;-) Mike S.

I did extensive research on the 955 and could not find one in Oregon. What you describe appears to be a very good deal, however, it does depend on who the previous owner was. If a rental return then it may have had a tough life. If the person you are buying it from is responsible and trustworthy-I'd drop 12g in a heart beat for a 955. I think it was the best JD offering in the CUT line ever!

I just purchased an 855 with the same FEL, Mine is a 1995 and it had 275 hours on it. I paid 12,000 and it included a Maschio (Italian) tiller, a home made ripper with a rake, a brush hog, and it also came with a ROPS canopy. You'll have a few more ponies than me and will also have HST, power steering etc. After a month of use or so - I can tell you that this is a great machine. Mine has been meticuluously maintained and runs like a dream. You will also have position control on you 3PH. The only drawback that I can see so far (and it has been mentioned on TBN many times) is the fact that the headlights are mounted in the front of the rear wheel fenders. This is only a problem if you have your loader on - which for me is always. the loader tends to block the headlight projection. If you aren't going to work at night then this is a moot point. I think your price is pretty good but with 800 hours you might be able to go a little less. I had to jump quick as around here they go really fast.

Overall I'm 100% satisfied with mine and I was leaning towards a brand new Kubota when I stumbled on this one.
