Kubota L2900
greetings all - looking for info / photos / diagrams of the kubota sub- frame and blade set-up for a 96 Grand L2900. I currently have a SSQC 72inch plow on the FEL.

are the sub- frame plows that much easier to use for snow plowing? I have about 500ft of driveway, a barn and sugarhouse to plow out and have found the FEL plow a bit awkward and slow to use. Now on top of this, I am fully disabled (ALS) and it is up to my very capable wife to do the plowing. So I am looking for the easiest way to plow out? or should I just get a Tacoma with a homeowners plow?

thanks for your insight -

-Eric

I duno about a front frame mounted plow, but I sold my hydraulic angled back blade after I built my manual angled SSQA mounted plow for my L3200. It hanging a ways out does push the front end a bit, but not much. Adding front chains negated most of the push & restored steering, which would get a bit light with a big blade of snow. The back blade wouldnt hold any more snow before pushing sidways when plowing straight.

I bet a subframe mounted plow will be better than my SSQA plow, but I cant see it being better enough to modivate me to build another frame or taking the time to remove my loader (I hear is a 5 minute job & it looks easy, but havent ever bothered or felt the need).

I'd stick with what you have unless it's not working for you. Even if it plows better, its probably not better enough to hassle with something thats not an easy SSQA.

I have had a sub-frame mounted on a L3130 Kubota and currently have a FEL mounted on a L4240.
I prefer the FEL mounted set-up with the SSQA.I can remove the plow or bucket in minutes;removing the FEL and adding the Sub-frame is quite a project especially for a woman.

Is there a design for the sub frame to leave it on all year or does it interfere with the functionality of the tractor?

Subframe has to be removed in order to use fel. On my 3350 it takes like 2 minutes to drop frame and plow/blower and another 2 minutes to install fel. Worst part of switch is unfreezing fel hydro fittings. I use a heat gun for that

I have used a Meyer brand mount on my 3010, 3430, and I just put it on mt 4060. It is for the old style Meyer Classic. I bolt it onto the front end using the three bolt holes that are located right under the brush guard on the tractor's frame. I also weld the mounts for the lift cylinder to the brush guard and reinforce the bottom of the brush guard by welding a piece of channel to go back to the frame.

I leave it in place all of the time and while it is only 11" off of the ground it has never really caused any clearance issues for me other than having to pay attention if I'm in a stump covered area to steer around the taller stumps.

I remove the loader to use the blade and then use the loader valve to operate the plow. The curl functions angle the blade, while the float position lifts the blade. Only three hoses are required since they cylinders are all single action.

I can post pictures if you are interested and there are pics in the Some Modifications to the 4060 thread.
