I'm a GM man...
I like 'em all, although I have mostly had Ford, and now Dodge. ;)

The GM IFS works nice, because that torsion bar is made specifically for the rotating stress placed on it.

I do kinda like the front Leaf spring system myself. While it doesn't have the travel of a coil spring IFS it can take a lot more weight. I think it drives a little better on rough roads too. It's rougher but more stable. I put on a set of rancho RS5000 shocks last year too and that really helped a lot!

When I was still a mechanic I used to have a lot more of these springs rearched than I replaced. That was in a different state though. I've had experience with the spring shop here and I wouldn't let them arch the springs on my horse cart. Last time they did a set for me the ride heights were different on all 4 corners of the truck.

My IFS handled and rode well too. The biggest issue I saw was it's tendency to sag; I redid the springs a couple times.

I put RS 9000 adjustable shocks. Loaded, I set the knob more agressive, less agressive empty.

Finding a good shop is like finding a good doctor or dentist...

On my older Ford the rear springs broke. The main spring and 2-3 of the secondary ones, cracked right at the thru bolt in the middle at the axle.

Hopefully you won't have that issue. It's miserable to change them out in the winter on the frozen ground when the high is below zero. Brrrrr.

If the truck's a keeper, and you can afford it, change them. Otherwise, let 'em ride.
