I have a 970 Deere tractor. Every time I turn the key it has started for me just find. I ran it for about 30 minutes around the yard this weekend and it would not restart after shutting it down. I pulled the filter on the engine, and it is getting a burst of fuel with every crank revolution. I removed one of the injector lines from the pump and nothing. Can I assume its an injector pump? Are they a common issue? Or could it be a clog or bad fuel? Tractor has about 2970 hrs on it
Thanks

MP6800_________UN01JAN94.gifIt is possible the filter is clogged. I doubt that it would clog that quickly though. Usually filter will cause loss of power and gradual shut down if not changed. More likely a problem with the fuel shut-off solenoid circuit. Solenoid (#11) moves the linkage on the injection pump to make it pump fuel. Watch the solenoid when attempting to start. If the plunger in solenoid does not move, the engine won't start. If it doesn't move, try pushing linkage toward rear of tractor with your hand or a screwdriver while cranking and see if it starts. THe solenoid could be bad, a fuse could be blown, or a relay could be bad if not working properly.
