From what I am reading on the notice I recieved ... its $500 payable to anyone who after the 100K mile warranty expired had to have the repair done.

Nothing for those who took a loss due to the market value of the truck being degraded by a faulty block, if they sold it before it cracked? Having a "53" block is like owning a 2003 Ford 6.0, you take a beating if you try to sell it.

The class action settlement is for '98-01 ISB engines. It also says that "Cummins strongly denies these claims" (of a faulty casting). I remember Cummins helping with the repair costs of some of these engines. I have no idea of how many engines actually developed these cracks. It would be interesting to know. I'm betting it is a very small percentage. I've got a '98 12 valve that has this "53" block (not an ISB) with 135,000 miles and no crack and I'm not going to worry about it. If I did have an early ISB I would be more worried of the tone ring on the crankshaft.
