What would a fair price for a 99 NH 1700 whith a 7308 loader MFWD with 745 hours on it. It looks to be in good shape. It has AG tires on it. The guy is asking 10,500 for it. It sounds a little high to me, but I don't know the prices of these tractors. What new John Deere model would this compare to as far as overall ability?

JD has many, many models. If you are looking for a geared transmission I think the JD770 and JD790 are pretty close. They do have newer technologies and I believe that they are 3 cylinder diesel engines while the Ford 1700 has 2. They are similar in size and weight and PTO HP. I think you should look at the TC30. It is an industry standard with which many of the competitors compare (unfairly due to "old" technologies). I can not help you on price except to say that back in the 1980's they cost around $8,000. I am not sure about the 99 in your title but the 1700 is a 25 year old tractor, the last year it was made was in 1982.

That makes a big difference then;)

That price seems good for that tractor. The 1920 set up like that go for around $14-15k here. They are great little tractors and well worth the price.

Ford's 17XX series of tractors were tanks. A friend of mine has one and has had no real problems with it. It handles the challenges of Adirondack winter's without complaint. Jay

FWIW, I was at the Kubota-NH dealer this past week and he was happy with a recent 1720 trade in on a new Kubota. Said it was going to sell for 13K which probably means 12,990.

Later he referred to the $10,000 trade in so I figured that is what he gave for it.

Good luck.

I guess if a dealer is willing to pay 10,000 for it 10,500 would be a good deal for me. I just wish it had turf tires and hydro, but I can live with gear tranny and I can always change the tires.

If she's 4wd, keep the rolling ratio the same..

If that tractor was here in the piedmont section of NC she would not last very long. Three days to a week at best. Those models bring top dollar here. $10K is a very reasonable price.
