Dave, I have a 990 2-wheel drive that I really like. I have no need for a FEL so I was tickled when I found this one. It was a 2001 model with only 69 hours on it. I also got a JD MX5
cutter with it, all like new. The cutter alone is about $1800
new. The guy had only mowed his 1 1/2 acre yard with it. I
have a small farm that is devoted to deer, turkey, and all other wild stuff. I bought a 6-ft. disc and a 5-ft. harrow. Also
a friend of mine gave me a boom pole and a 3-pt. carryall so I am fixed up. I have seven food plots about an acre each.
I think you would really like the 990. I put some weights on the front and it handles the MX5 really well. My next purchase will be a box blade. My tires are not filled and it still pulls strong with no wheel spin. With gears you get about two to three more drawbar horsepower. I have no need for the hydro. The MX5 weighs about 850 lbs.
