Excellent work! I am glad to see the old barn brought back to life instead of demolishing it. What you are doing is not the easy way but in my opinion is the most rewarding way.

Hello,
I have to give you very much credit for all your hard work. You did an amazing amount of work just to get it to where you are. You know what you are doing and your work proves it. That being said, that barn didn't look to me like it was worth saving......I think I would have torn it down and started over!!!! Everybody has different ideas, so if you are enjoying it, that's all that matters. I look forward to seeing Part 2 and good luck on your future work.

Judy and I have made some more progress on the barn and was finally able to get my editing software going... We have all but 2 of the posts installed, and I will still need to do some more bracing before the barn wood goes back on the outside. I plan to leave the bottom 12" or so un-sided and use stacked stone up to the bottom of the siding. There should be plenty of stones available when I get a tractor this spring and start doing all the dirt work I have planned. I think it should look great with a new paint job! Here is the video of my latest progress.

well, when I re-read my original post, I misstated something... Judy helped me with the concrete and posts, but she also pulled all the nails out of the old barn wood and stacked it up for re-use! Thank you Judy!

Yes the Judy's and Lori's (my wife) are great help and support on the big projects around the property. Couldn't run this place without her.

Nice job, I like seeing old barns and buildings saved. What part of western NC are you located, county/city?

Hey Hunterridgefarm, our place is in Bryson City, that's Swain county. Where are you located?

Dean,
I am near Morganton NC, about an hour east of Asheville. I have been to Bryson City several times, took the long open car train ride, very nice.

We also spend some time on the Nantahala.
