I worked 33 years for Chrysler through the tough times money wise, but made it through only being laid off 1 time in the 80's. My dad was a mechanic by trade, but had a gardening business I used to help him with on the weekends. We never had any type of power equipment, so I learned how to be a gardener by working everything by hand. I only minded doing the sod jobs, because the only tool I used was a flat spade shovel. I grew up living next to a hot rod club in the 50's, which my dad hated, because they were always kicking stones and debris onto his corner lot as they peeled around our property. He was always calling the cops on them. Most of the guys were 7-10 years older then me, so they were always shoeing me away. My only "In" was that I delivered the afternoon paper to their house, and had to collect on Fridays, so I always just hung around.
Well that's how I became a car-guy. Never having any equipment to maintain my property or much time to maintain it "only mowing" I did not own a tractor until I retired last year and purchased a 2 series John Deere. After just a few jobs with the loader, backhoe, and box blade I was hooked. Got the 54" snow blower also, and don't mind doing the snow either. I don't want to get too long here, so here is my question. I want to purchase a root grapple which requires a 3rd function valve. I live in farm country, and the local JD dealer is not very helpful with information or questions on residential equipment. My tractor is new and came with a backhoe hooked to a power beyond installed on the rear of the tractor. Can I get a 3rd function valve installed already having the backhoe hooked to the power beyond port? The dealer does not seem interested in doing this job or providing and information to me. I did not buy the tractor from this dealer. It was purchased in Indiana, and delivered to me by a relative who lives out there.
