Farmall 656, w/fel
Looks like the farm is sold and most of the machinery is gone too. I have kept @ 8 acer's and for now plan to maintain it with a Farmall 656 and a Woods BB720(brand new). I plan in the near future to replace the 656 with a CUT any idea what size I would need to run the BB 720??? Thanx for the input!!

I have the BB720 the manual has 35Hp Min recomended. Most dealers recomended 40HP min for the 6Ft med/heavy cutters such as the 720 with 120Hp gear box. Some here i believe use the 30HP tractors on 6Ft cutters. With 8 acres anything bigger than 30-35Hp would most likely be too big. Many others should be replying with their good advice as usual here.

I think my TC35D is a stretch to run my BB600.. another 10 hp would probably help. Plus the woods Med. duty cutters are very heavy.. my 2 cents would be a min. of 40hp.

Thanks for the input guys. I was looking at the tc 45da do you think this will handle this or not?

I like the bigger horse power of the TC 48 and 55 but I like the option of the mid mount pto of the TC 45 this is why I am looking to stay with the smaller tractor. I hope to run a front snow blower in the future!!!

The TC45 is rated 37.8HP hydro 39.6 gear at the pto, 3 point lift capacity 2330lbs so it should be ok with the BB720. It may require front end weights due to the BB720`s weight of right at 1200 lbs. I could not locate the total weight of the TC45 on new holland web site.

The weight of the the TC45DA without 16LA loader is between 3400 and 3500 lb. The loader with HD bucket weighs about 1100 lb. I'm sure it can handle a 1200 lb rotary cutter, but your advice about front weight is excellent. I'd want to keep my loader on or put on some suitcase weights for that heavy a load on the 3PH, especially on hilly terrain.
