A chip off the old block

Just got back from the local pumpkin farm with my family, including my 8 month old son. Most of it, like the pumpkins and the scarecrows and the halloween stuff, he thought was pretty ho hum, but every time one of the hayride tractors came rumbling by he would stop whatever he was doing, and just stare at it with an ear to ear grin, completely mesmerized. I don't know if it is the motion, or the noise, or the shear size of the tractor that so captivates him, but he never reacts to cars, etc. like I saw him do today. I've got three girls and one boy thats enough to keep me busy and then some. Heck it keeps me busy working just to feed and cloth them. /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif I've been blessed with four healthy ones thank goodness./w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

My son is twelve and I can't interest him in the tractor, but I couldn't keep him off of it if I had a backhoe! That's the only piece of equipment that seems to excite him. /w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif

JimB - I thought that a 12 year old boy and a tractor were inextricably linked - yours must be the exception. Actually that is a blessing in disguise with all the safety concerns we share regarding tractor use. My 10 year old daughter thinks my tractor is "stupid"

I regret that I did not get a tractor or have land to work until my kids were grown and essentially gone. Those of you who have small children are blessed that they can grow up with you, learning first hand about land and growing and nature and ... creation.

Interestingly, although he loves the idea of tractors, he is currently terrified by the size and noise of my 'Bota.

The oldest is twelve and the youngest is three. Oh yea with a couple in between. Like any kids some days I wouldn't trade raising childern for anything and other days I would pay someone to take them./w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

Now to what causes them---nothing gives me more joy than==om-er-I think I won't go there. Than raising them yea thats it raising them is the most joy./w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif
